Returns official of a comn (Q118) referred to him for his information stating that it appears from the rolls of that office that Bt. Maj. A. Gaslin Capt. Justin Hodge and Capt. T.P. Johnson A.Q.M. Vols are on duty in the Bureau R.F. &A.L in N.C. Asks if the services of one or two of these officers cannot be dispenced with. With remarking. The services of Capt Hodge are not required in the Qr. Mr. Dept and as he can be dispenced with in the Freedmen's Bureau Recommends that he be relieved and ordered to report to the Adjt. Watson A.Q.M. on duty in Freedmen's Bureau, Augusta Ga. to Gen'l Donaldson C.Q.M. of Dept of the Tennessee he stated that his duties for Sept. were rather limited, and from Genl Donaldson's report it seems that his sphere of duty at present is not an important one. Asks if his services cannot be dispensed with, and if so that he be ordered to his place of residence, and the Qr. Mr. Gen'l be informed.
