Society petition in ist behalf that Genl Howard secure as a donation to the above named Society for school purposes a Gov't building situated on the corner of Cedar and McLamore Streets Nashville. With the remark that he has made arrangements to provide a suitable room in the "Fisk School" building for the instructions of colored men, officiating as "preachers" among the Freedmen but has not authority to furnish it and Recommends that aid be extended as far as possible. Nov 20th Returned Genl Lewis is hereby authorized to do all he can in this case. |
