Comr. of Va. and his objections to instructions issued in conformity with instructions of Sept 18" from Hd Qrs Bu R.F. & A.L. States that the operations of the courts have been satisfactory and successful and asks for such modifications of instructions as will allow of their continuance under the former plan. |

Stone Supt 2" Dis. who reports that he had made arrangements to sell certain Hospital buildings at Farmville, Va. formerly the property of the So called Confederate Government Mr Daniels the owner of the land upon which the buildings stand has petitioned for an injunction against the sale or removal of said buildings, and the injunction was granted by Judge Marshall Gen'l Brown submits the case for instructions, with remarks, that it is of the greatest practical importance to know to what extent if any Martial Law, prevails in Va, and whether the operations of the Bureau are to be subjected to the decision of the State Courts. The questions involves in this case is one that will be raised in relative to much of the property held by the Bureau in that State if the Civil Authorities are allowed to interfere.  |
