In this Parish there has been so much rain that no work could be performed. even upon high lands - in the fields, consequently planters are discouraged and the freedmen are receiving but a small amount of their wages, A little dry weather however, will - the Agent thinks - will insure an average crop Plantations that have been overflowed are past redemption the water having receded so slowly that upon most of them a crop could not be planted and even where the attempt to plant was made, the ground has been kept so wet, by continual rains, that it could not be cultivated - No cases of complaint have been brought before the Bureau but what have been amicably settled.
