States that on the 28th of May last, he wrote the Com'r saying that Mr C.P. Huntington of New Carthage, La had agreed in case the Bureau furnished $800 towards erecting a school house to supplement that am't. by $400 and board two or more teachers for four years free of charge, but have rec'd no reply thereto. 
Furnishes copy of letters from Mr Huntington, and Capt C.P. Varney relative to the erection of school houses in La. Will be pleased to learn that the Com'r acts favorably on the  matter.
