Arithmetic and Mitchell's Geography. The night school taught by Mr Lewis numbers seventy five. The attendance is rather irregular, it averages however about fifty scholars, mainly adults
Mr Lewis has not yet organized his Sabbath School. This he proposes to do in the course of two weeks. The House in which he conducts his schools and which belongs to the Friends is a very good one, and pleasantly located. These Schools are free. They were opened on the 30th of September A.D. 1867. and they have steadily grown in numbers and influence.
There is located here, too, a school for Freedmen, under the auspices of the old school Presbyterian General Assembly which numbers in its enrolment one hundred and forty scholars with an average daily attendance of ninety. The attendance in the school is said to be prompt, but there is however too much tardiness. The school is free; there is however —
