a voluntary contribution, sometimes asked to defray its contingent expenses, some give something, others do not There are two grades in this school. The Text Books used are McGuffys. This School, unlike the others, I have visited in this State, opens at 9 oclock A.M., and after on intermission of one hour, at noon, opens at 1 o''clock and closes at 4.0 There is no night school, however, connected with this school. The teachers of this school conduct a small Sabbath School of about forty-five scholars. The night school was discontinued because the persons wishing to attend seemed indisposed to pay the change of fifty cents per month as required, These schools were opened about the 18th of August last, and the present term will close about the middle of next December. It is at this place that the Biddle Memorial Institute is located, There are now in that  School eight persons
