Text Books used. The Teachers, however, have very wisely selected from the standard school books of this county such as they have found best adapted to meet the wants of the persons attending school, And under this very judicious arrangement, coupled with a well arranged plan of oral instruction, followed in the primary department of the school, the scholars are making rapid progress in spelling, reading, writing, arithmetic, geography, & grammar. Neither of these schools is so large as it will be in the next month. Many of the children yet to commence going to the day school, and many of the older persons who are intending to go to the night school, are at this time, so employed at their work that they cannot attend, in the day time, and are too tired to attend at night.
