I have the honor to report, in obedience to special Orders No 160, that en route from Charlotte via Salisbury today, I learned that, at this time, there is no Day or Night School at Newton Station, Catawba County; but there is a Day School to be opened there very soon, for the benefit of the Freedmen. The white Methodists of that place, as I learned, have kindly consented to give the use of their Church for this School. There is now a small Sabbath School taught at this Station for the Freedmen. It numbers some thirty Scholars. Within a few miles of this place there are
