always beautiful and pleasant, and so every freedman here declares, with a vehemence of manner, and an eloquence of expression, which are truly heart stirring, as this subject especially is brought to his attention.  This Schools numbers now upon its register one hundred pupils with an average attendance of seventy five.  The attendance is prompt, and very little tardiness is reported.  The Night School taught by these teachers, and in the same building as the other school, is small as yet, numbering only fourteen adult persons.
   The Day School was opened on the 30th day of September 1867.  It is well classified, having in it five grades.  The children are doing well, in their studies of spelling reading, writing, and arithmetic, grammar, and geography.  The text books used are the National Series by J. Madison Watson.
