There is also a want of furniture in this school house.  The seats, for the most part, old broken benches and pieces of chairs, ill-accommodate the scholars.  But a better home is coming to the school. For, in a few weeks, as I am informed, the new church and School building now in process of erection, by the Presbyterians (old school) is to be finished, and the school is to be moved to that house.  There it will be largely increased and conveniently and pleasantly situated.  This school, all thing considered, is doing well, as to studies.  Mrs Dorland is a very efficient, and earnest teacher.
   
But these schools are free.  The latter is supported by the old school General Assembly under the direction its [[?]] on Freedmen.  I say they are free, because no charge is made for tuition, and the charge of ten cents per month
