here are poor, very ignorant but apparently interested in their Education and Elevation.  The Whites make no opposition to  their education and i am informed that they in all respects treat the blacks politely.
   The Sabbath School here numbers in its average attendance fifty Scholars.  In school Miss Muthington [[?]] is assisted by three colored men.
   The Schools were opened here October 28th 1867 since that time they have steadily grown in their  number.
   The building used for school purposes is an old frame Hospital building in poor condition because greatly out of repairs  I [[strikeout]] apparently [[/strikeout]] need plastering   The Freedmen also hold their meetings in this house.  The American Missionary Association patronize this School and own this building and the land on which it stands.
   The most admired pupil of this School are Spelling, reading, writing and beginning the study of Geography , Arithmetic and Grammar. The progress of the scholars is commendable
