Agreement

This Agreement, made this 15th day of November 1867 between the Committee on col'd. Schools, appointed by the Board of Public School Directors of Public Schools of the City of New Orleans La. and 1st Lieut. J.M. Lee 39th U.S. Ifty. A'c. Gen'l. Supt. of Educ. Bu. R.F. and A.L. State of La.

Witnesseth, That the A'c. Gen'l. Sup't. of Educ. Bu. R.F. and A.L. State of La., in consideration of the terms hereinafter mentioned does transfer to the Committee on col'd. Schools Board of School Directors, City of New Orleans La, all Freedmen's Schools, now under the charge of the Freedmen's Bureau, in the City of New Orleans La. viz:

The Board of School Directors City of N.O. agrees to open free Schools for all colored children in the City of New Orleans La. in the buildings now occupied by this office, or such other buildings as they may deem fit, they to make arrangements in regard to the payment of rents with the owners of the buildings and this office does herewith relinquish all claims on the buildings

All Teachers now employed in the Schools and so desiring shall be retained so long as they comply with the established rules of the Board; in event of any charges being preferd against any of them, the Board of Directors will notify the Bureau of the day and time
