colored men say, that they will purchase a lot at once and have a school house. If they make good this statement, they will aid in supplying a great want in this community.

The Text Books used in this school are "The National Series." The children are making rapid progress. The more advanced are reading, writing, studying Arithmetic Geography, and Grammar. Attention is given to Rhetorical exercises, in the Intermediate department of the school, every Friday P.M. In the Primary department, much attention and time are given to instructing the children orally, and especially in each Friday P.M., during the exercises in the other department.

The attendance in this school is prompt and regular. No tardiness is complained of by the teachers. The discipline of the school is excellent. Its classification is as thorough and judicious as could be expected under the circumstances. More room and another efficient teacher are very much needed. The teachers of this school are greatly loved by the parents of the children, and in the conduct of the school, have their sympathy and approbation.
