to Hildreths solicitations that Genl Gregory should appoint an officer, or authorized agent, "to superintend the Claim Division" and the Genl's neglect to comply with such requests, I have no personal knowledge.

Of Specification 1st Charge 3d I know nothing beyond hearing Genl Gregory, in conversation with Hildreth, admit that the latter brought a bundle of Discharges to him with request that some place of deposite be provided for them, and he (Genl. G.) handed them back telling Hildreth at the same time to "put them in his desk".

I have not the slightest idea to whom, or of whom the statements contained in the 2d and 3d Specifications (of above charge) refer. The statements, made in the charges and specification other then those above specified I am unable to furnish any information about as the occurrences are alleged to have taken place while I was on duty in Wilmington Del. With regard to charges and Specifications against Major Bolenius, I am unable, to furnish from personal knowledge, any facts

Very respectfully,
Your obt svt,
Edw'd C. Knower
Bt. Capt & A.A.A. Genl
