SENTENCE.
And the Commission does therefore sentence him, citizen William Riley, (colored,) that he be confined at hard labor in such Penitentiary as the General Commanding may direct for the period of five (5) years.

5. Benjamin Williams, citizen.

CHARGE I.——Assault with the intent to kill.

Specification.——In this that, Benjamin Williams,. a citizen of Mississippi, did assault one Ransom Woodward (colored,) a citizen of Mississippi, and strike him, using threatening language, and did call for his gun with intent to kill said Woodward. This at or near Graysport, Mississippi, on or about the 23d of November, 1867.

CHARGE II.——Aiding and abetting murder.

Specification.——In this that the said Benjamin Williams, being engaged in an assault, on the person of Ransom Woodward, did call for his gun, and when the said gun was brought to the place by his son Benjamin  Williams, junior, did urge him the said Benjamin Williams, Junior, to use the gun by saying "stop him Bennie," or words to that effect, meaning to have him (Benjamin Williams, junior,) kill the said Woodward, upon which the said Benjamin Williams, junior, did fire the gun and kill the said Woodward. This at or near Graysport, Mississippi, on or about the 23d day of November, 1867.

To the 1st charge, "Not Guilty."
To the specification 2d charge,  "Not Guilty."
To the 2d charge, "Not Guilty."
