that the Government claim is unjust.

The property is advertized to be sold on the 17th inst. - consequently no time to be lost, in case you conclude to make one more effort to have the Government deal fairly and honestly by parties who are trying to establish a self-sustaining manufacturing business in this extreme southern portion of the Military District.

If continued it will afford employment for a large class of Freedmen, and in the end do them more good than the $3.000. - In short the Government can well afford to pay the owners of the property $3.000. and abandon this unjust claim. I am fully satisfied that the money $3.000. cannot be raised.

If you make another effort, let me know the result.

Respectfully yours
 Lyman Mallery.
