Brig. Gen. H. Brooks
Asst. Comm, Cmd.
Baltimore Md.

General

I have the honor herewith to state that in obedience to your request I called at the Comptroller's office, and was told that no information would be furnished me.

The language of Mr. Leonard the Comptroller was,"No information whatever will be given to your Bureau or its Agents".

Permit me further to say that at the Adjutant Genl's office every facility is afforded us, and information given freely and cordially, but these cases are in the hands of the Comptroller.

The clerk in the A.G.O. desired me to mention to you that where delay occurs in the answering of communications from your office it is because no replies have been received from the War Depmt. and he suggests that if the requests for information were first sent to the War Depmt. direct from your Hd. Qrs. the replies would be attended to with more dispatch
