Some time after he reported three other Discharges missing. I then directed him to use all means in his power to find them and if they were out of the office, how they got out.

He reported one in the hands of a Claim Agent - F.P. Stevens Esq.

Mr. Hildreth continued in charge of the papers of the Claim Division until December 10" 1867, when Maj. A.W. Bolenius was assigned to the Division. The Clerk, Mr. Hildreth, was then directed by me to turn over all papers including Discharges, to Maj. Bolenius.

I then stated to Maj. Bolenius that three (3) or four (4) Discharges were missing, and directed him to look over all the papers and records and report to me all the Discharges missing. Maj. Bolenius reported thirty-four (34) missing.

I then directed Maj. Bolenius to search further in the office, for those missing and then to see if there were any of them in the hands of Claim Agents. He reported to me, that
