States that the mother of Wm. Johnson, who is now in the Md. State Penitentiary has applied to this Bureau in his behalf. Requests that the case be investigated and if believed to be innocent, that efforts be made for his discharge

Respectfully returned to Hd. Qrs. Bu RF & A.L. Washington D.C. with information that Wm. Johnson was convicted for stealing upon complaint of a colored man named Alex Stewart living near Bladensburg Prince Georges Co. Md.

Johnson states that he purchased from another col'd man coat, pants, vest and shoes for $8.00 was arrested with articles in his possession, and convicted as above stated
