A preferred lien upon crops for the labor employer in its production was vigorously enforced by Officers and Agents of the Bureau in securing their wages to laborers where there was anything to secure it from and when fraud or violence was used toward them prompt arrest and punishment of offenders was resorted to.- Very beneficial results from this action soon became apparent.- A few arrests and trials by the Civil Authorities for marauding put a stop to the general depredations upon stock which were being committed, and offences of this nature are now seldom heard of.- The necessity of laborers going to work at a reasonable rate of wages encouraged
