of the negro was arrested.- The three whites were then joined by seven others all around, and a general search of all the negro quarters in the vicinity was instituted.- The negros assembled in arms and firing commenced between the parties the evidence being conflicting as to which commenced it. Two whites were killed, three slightly wounded and one negro wounded seriously.- The next morning another conflict took place in which two whites were wounded and one negro.- The whites having dispersed the freedmen, took the negro who was wounded in the first encounter from his bed into the woods and shot and hung him.- Another party of whites burned his house and all his little property the next day having first stolen considerable money and valuables therefrom it is alleged. They also took one of the freedmen supposed to have been concerned in the riot to the woods and shot and hung him.- The next day a party of whites arrested the negro wounded in the second conflict
