Bureau Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,

J.F. Allison (late 1st Lieut V.R.C.) is hereby appointed an Officer of and retained in the service of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, State of North Carolina under Section 4 of the Act of Congress continuing the Bureau, passed July 16, 1866, and in accordance with the provisions of the said Section he will receive the same compensation as is provided by law for the grade of 1st Lieut of Infantry which rank he formerly held.
This appointment takes effect January 1st 1868 and will remain in force until revoked by orders from this Office. The oath required by Act of Congress, approved July 2, 1862, will be taken and filed in the Office of the Asst. Commissioner of the State of North Carolina.
