While the reports of destitution & applications for relief do not seem as yet as numerous as in months past, still there is sufficient to excite sympathy & attention in the present, & there is cause for alarm in the future, that is, between now and the time of gathering crops. A want of funds in hand will prevent many, and interfere considerably with others in the production of their crop, in consequence of their inability to furnish provisions for their laborers.
