After a long season of an excitement seldom witnessed in a political campaign, it is gratifying to be able to announce the fact that peace and order has prevailed throughout the State. The colored people, having similar views, with the same issues at stake of course composed a large body of like political affinities, and moved together with one purpose. Forming as they did so formidable a body, much credit is due to them for their conduct and demeanor throughout the entire canvass, and thus again in a remarkable and emphatic manner vindicated their claim and more firmly established their qualifications as good citizens.
