Gen E.W Hinks.

Sir.
On my return to this place after talking with you on the case of Richmond Staton Col. I learned Staton was committed to prison to await his trial today. I then went to see Mr Fuller Agent Bureau here and talked with him on this subject. I found him from his talk to be a very bitter opponent of the Col man and of the republican party. Said any man voting radical ticket was a (Damnd rascal) that he was at one time a league man but had left the damnd Conceson Said Holden was a damnd radical. that he would never be allowed to take his seats. that the Conservative party held all the power. that the Col man had been led by southern men against his best friends. that the Conservatives were then best friends that the Col men were so ignorant they could not see it. He said the whole possee concerned with Straton would have to go to jail. I see no hope of justice at the hands of such men I am clearly of the opinion his prejudices are such as to forbid his giving a Col man justice in any case. The Col people join me in an appeal that he be displaced
