Dear Phil:

I was standing in Dick Bellamy's office observing his new temporary plastic "choppers" when he mentioned that you had just flashed through the city. This reminded me that I had been thinking about writing to you about the possibility of publishing something of mine and about a young fellow whom I have met recently who would like to write for you.

Would you be interested to consider an article from me which would be composed of tidy snatches from Record entries, letters, catalogue statements, speeches, etc. for 1966, almost all of it unpublished? A sample: "In the fairyland of self-identified 'new' English sculpture, one can only abhor the tritely compulsive flora and fauna - the enameled steel pansies and the frolicsome 'I' beams." The stuff probably needs editing; I trust you with this.

Mel Bochner is a young artist who had been reviewing and writing for Arts. He quit Akston and his S.S. gang after dour James through babbling Gordo "You're right, Jimmie" Brown tried to persuade Mel ("Do it, boy!") to recant a smashing review on Marisol doll when Sid "de shoit" Janis bought a technicolor cover on Mein Kampf. Can you use this guy?

Best regards,
Dan F
