Barbara's prejudiced remarks while not dismissing the art in question.

I still believe that later influence by movement, especially on young artists is overrated. Even they (the best of them) see other art for themselves first and read later, if at all. The direct artists to art to artist to art continuity is still most significant for so many of us. The absence of literal literate comprehension is still responsible for the surprising pleasures of creative misinterpretations. Nevertheless, direct intercommunication in the post-plastic arts is of increasing importance. (I wish that you would devote much more space to it and the necessary reproductions than to the meandering parochial sophistry and pointless intramural squabbles of self-accomodating "serious" critics. I guess that that is too much to hope for.) There is a lovely cardinal just perched on a branch in the twilight ahead of me outside the window. Sonja has put necessary seed on the snow beneath the tree. Good afternoon, my friend.

The pretty Mississippi stamp on the wrapper is from the design of Andy Bucci whom I mentioned in "some other comments..."
