for a revised art school idea to be. It didn't surprise me to hear her describe a kind of loose system of students and teachers, which might, she thought, invite artists that both students and xxx faculty xx agreed on, and so forth and so on, ---in short, she derived an idea that had nothing in common with the xxx truly creative idea that you described to me, but which I too failed to deduce from the article itself, and which I am quite sure will elude all other readers as well. Why hope that I am an editor when you have no use for one?

[[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]]

And the fact that as an editor I did publish all of your material should have led you, not to conclude that I was a "foolish editor" for publishing someone I thought [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] hypocritical, but to abandon your unfounded idea of what I did think of you. But that wouldn't be Flavin. It's characteristic Flavin to decide 1) Leider thinks I'm a hypocrite. 2) He publishes my writing 3) He's a foolish editor. One of Leider's objection's to Flavin;s mind, howev er, is that he doesn't reason like this: 1) Leider publishes my stuff 2) So there must be something more to his understanding of me than that I'm a hypocrite.

There's another [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] side, though. As an editor I'm not called upon to either fully [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] agree with or even, peculiarly, to full understand everything I publish. (Do you think the editor of whatever journal first published the relativity theory fully understood it?) The truth is I dont have to do much more than sense that a [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] piece is worthwhile.

I dont think I want to take up my "peculiarly silly opinion" about my 3 choices.. We wont get anywhere. Ditto Vietnam. I'm not moved by your suffering for both sides. I've moved by the things young people have done to give voice to their horror at what we are doing there. We dont have much to discuss here, I'm afraid.
