Dear Dan,

Just finishing the June issue and noticed that all the letters are still about your art education piece; also noticed two other letters remaining the letters file, both from you, and realized I'd never written you about them. Re the one to me, I've decided to bring [[underlined]] zum ende the letters colloqy between us,w with a private handshake across the Bear Mountains, Re the one about Guggenheims, I have to ask you to give some credence to something you've been hesitant to give credence to hithero -- my my editorial intinct, which tells me that the letter is not good for you and not good for anyone else. The warning will look too much like some private malice on yur part (sour grapes) and will prevent no one from seeking to lap at the Guggenehim
trough anyway. I can, however see it incorporated -- perhaps lengthened -- in a future piece, either of the essay or the "some comments" (this time without editorial sub-head) variety, and would be happy to use it in that context.
Year done, I cant say I'm thrilled with Volume Six, or that the move to NY has resulted in any substantial benefits to the magazine. While unsatisfied, I lick my wound with the thought that I simply k dont know how it could have been done any better, tend, in weak moments, to blame it on other writers, saying to myself "Look, I gave them all complete freedom to really make a forum for themselves, and all they've done is scrabble in the chicken shit."
