Couple of weekends ago Basile -- that little prick -- said you'd arrived at home, and I took the opportunity to say -- what I hoped was pointedly -- "well, just because they're here doesn't mean I have to invade their privacy with a lot of summer resort hallooing and helloing," but I dont think it was pointed enough. We still had to have some of their relentless hospitality. (I took the children down to the lake where they each caught t0 their amazement and astonishment, four sizeable sunfish, which Basile, meeting them on the walk back, told me were not big enough to keep. Tucked them under my jacket and guiltily gulped them an hour later.)

We may be up this weekend. Have you decided about Aspen? Will you think about having a piece for the September issue? By around mid-July?

Saw Yvonne Rainer last night at Merc Cunningham's performance; [[??]] I'd missed her performance the past Friday, for which I wanted to shoot myself, having heard from all that it was beautiful beyond description. One of the Cunningham pieces -- Scramble -- was lovely, the others not so great. I couldn't [[underline]] bear [[/underline]] the one with Gage reading his fey anecdotes while the dancers danced.
