It isn't "sour grapes" to say that my work helped Sheldon Machlin, Jim Rosenquist, Bob Morris and George Segal to see the light. In fact Bob Morris on seeing Icons I, II and III pressed together (as they formerly were) suggested that it would be good for me to do a long neon mural (I believe he said "one continuous line of light") I told him that I had thought to make use of neon but that I could not afford to finance such work.
