conceptual artists - [[crossed out]] Douglas Huebler [[/crossed out]]? and Joseph Kosuth, maybe Barry and Weiner, maybe Huebler, very few people fit in to the idea of conceptual art. I[[crossed out]] hate the term eccentric abstraction too [[/crossed out]]. [[crossed out]] It was only supposed to be titled new anyway, not a kind [[?]]. [[/crossed out]] I've promised myself I won't name anything every again. That's why [[crossed out]] with [[/crossed out]] the Seattle [[crossed out]] show it[[/crossed out]], the title changes each time [[crossed out]] it's shown[[/crossed out]]. & the Seattle-Vancouver show. Its the [[crossed out]] The [[/crossed out]] population of the city [[crossed out]] is [[/crossed out]] it appears is 557,087 12,955 no next, & I could keep adding to it. the title [[crossed out]] and [[/crossed out]] nobody can say what kind of artists ought to be in it [[crossed out]] that [[/crossed out]] if I've refused to say it was conceptual art or anti-form or earth works or this and that. It's because the ties between [[crossed out]] them [[/crossed out]] [[?]] in any show I do concerns only my own [[crossed out]] have to do only with what I've, with [[/crossed out]] strange associations between works [[crossed out]] that I've found. [[/crossed out]] There [[crossed out]] really [[/crossed out]] is no [[crossed out]] real [[/crossed out]] direct connection between John Latham and Richard Serra and Robert Barry, except that there are other people in between [[crossed out]] that [[/crossed out]] them who relate to other people and [[crossed out]] that [[/crossed out]] who [[crossed out]] then [[/crossed out]] in turn relate to them and so on...I can make relationships. It's not a group thing. [[crossed out]] I think [[/crossed out]] that can be put under a single name. It's a coalitive thing. it's getting less and less [[crossed out]] so [[/crossed out]] possible to pinpoint that [[crossed out]] any [[/crossed out]] [[crossed out]] [[?]] [[/crossed out]] movement [[crossed out]] can be pinpointed. [[/crossed out]] Certainly the artists, as usual, are very much against that.

[[crossed out]] UM: Right. They are very much against it, and you are against it, and I am against it. And yet I don't really think we can avoid it. The only thing that I'm wondering about is why is it that as soon as a.. anything obtains a name in art it is already over. What accounts for it?

LL: Oh God knows. Well it always means.. what it usually means is that the followers are going to drop off pretty soon and the real people are going to stay with it. Primary Sturctures [[structures]], if you sit down, you can only probably think of ten people at the most who can be squeezed into that category, and the rest of them have vaguely disappeared. And that means that they can continue to do what can be called "Primary Structures" in general, nearly all of them. [[/crossed out]]

[[left margin note]]
Things move so fast now that speed has to be inc. in the art.
