Statement

I am a painter, not a photographer in the orthodox sense. I approach photography through my work with painting and drawing. The numbers are drawing elements which I use both in the photography as well as my other works on paper. The numbers have whatever the meaning the viewer choses to assign to them..... they are often seen as vectors, symbolic diagramatic plays ( sports series), labinotations indicating a network of overlapping sections ( as in dance notations), and for the mystical.....a diagram of activities taking place in a parrallel universe...the activities of matter and anti-matter.

I prefer to take a conventional tool and to mold it in an unconventional way.

Method: A camera is set up on a tripod. Drawings are attached to the TV screen. Random photographs are taken of images in motion-- either full screen or a portion of the screen. The work is processed by machine ( Kodak). The edition is small: only 10 prints inforchach image. Each print is developed at different times by Kodak so that the variations in terms of their machines random selection or method of developing permits additional variation. The prints are dated by Kodak on the reverse side.
