Dear Julien:
The Subcommittee, at a meeting this week, decided that they would prefer to wait until Gorky had a new batch of work to offer, rather than acquire the composition which you very generously allowed us to hold for consideration during the last few weeks.
I am sure that Gorky is really only in the beginning of his new production, and we look forward to the next batch of his work.
Will you please have the painting picked up at your convenience.
