Dear Emmy Lou:

This is just a hint to you and Byron that Jonny is feeling a little lonesome, I think and that he wants to have a bit of reassurance that you are there and think about him--- This morning when the mail came he was quite disappointed that he had no reply to his letter--"I wrote them a long six page letter!!" I said "You had a letter from Emmy Lou--" "but that was not a reply"--"You talked on the phone--"yes, but I called them, they didn't call me"..

Actually he is still a small boy in many spots and probably his whole experience makes him feel insecure so that just a note--(I know you are busy!!) would fill the breach. I suggested that he reply to the letter he got--and probably you would also reply to his, and finally get synchronated---- anyway, I just thought a hint which he does not know I have dropped, might give him assurance , which won't hurt him..

I think he is being quite conscientious about his work and practice, so far as I can tell. and things are settling down to routine--Walter kids him out of small situations and it seems to be working OK..
The piano tuner is coming Monday--he was away when we got theppiano , so it was not quite up to tune. It is quite a good one for tone and action so Jonny seems very satisfied and I am so glad not to be dealing with either Cline nor Tupper and Reed .

Dad is finishing his article for the Liberal Democrat and I have it to type--think it will be very specific and worth while, stating the case of water and power.
