Dear Emmy Lou:

It was really great to see you and to spend so much time with you. We share so many things in common and there is practically no artist left with whom I can talk knowing that there is a common point of reference and common purpose.

I have been thinking of the correspondence you have of Diego's and I feel it is far too important not to make it public. Of course, it has to be done in a way as to remind people of Diego's breaking away from the Trotsky position. But I think the material you have should be known to people who are influenced by Trotskyism today.

I do hope you will consider my feeling that you should start and article on your reminiscences of that period. You can try such magazines as THE NEW YORKER, ESQUIRE. And if rejected, settle for the magazine of the PEOPLE'S WORLD. At least, you would be reassured it would be reprinted in many parts of the world.

I am writing to Gus Hall telling him of what you have. There may be some suggestions that may come from there.

It was great to be in your studio and see your new prints. I wish we were not so far away from each other. I think we could help each other considerably. But maybe after re-establishing our contact, we can get some things accomplished never the less. One thing I certainly want to do is to get you off your ass and do that article.

I appreciate deeply your consideration and all you did form me and the week in San Francisco was really wonderful for both Lila and me.

With love from both of us.

Yours,
RLF
