A week ago Saturday, my boy telephoned from Paris where he was enjoying a furlough. The kid made good. I am proud of him. He has many ribbons and three bronze stars on infantry badge of honor and is attached to headquarters in Frankfort-on-the-Main. He called on Paul Rosenberg and had a nice visit. He (Maynard — my boy) expects to be home in March or April. I am bountifully grateful to God for his sparing him. Frances (Mrs Weber) was so nervous at the phone — she could hardly talk. She was overcome by sound of Maynards voice, and he assured her he is in perfect health.
I hope I haven't indulged in too much writing, but I just wanted to "talk to you". You can't blame me.
With love and best wishes to you and Edna from Frances, Joy and myself, and with added and renewed wishes for a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. I am As ever Yours
Max
About a month ago I received a wonderful and friendly — long letter from Paul. Picasso and Matisse, always, remembered me well
