Dear Keith:

Thank you for your kind letters on the 22nd of last month-a letter so full of good wishes that touch my heart and which in good cheer and courage to "go on". At no time will I fail to impart and share with you and Edna good tidings that come to show your definition of "good luck" struck us as being "practically" philosophical-wise too! And I know what you mean to imply-hard work.

Under separate cover I am sending you and Edna a gouche of 1917. I remember showing it to you when you were here last. I was always fond of it. It belongs to the period where most of the studies in the forthcoming exhibition of the old "new" gouches and pastels were made. This is about the nearest way I can bring you to the exhibition. Your presence will be missed by us all.

I wish I could be with you when you hang your great picture. What genuine fun it would be, and what reward! You are quite right about the dark background for paintings. Paul has had a life-time of experience. Will you make all the walls dark? Or just the one you mention. You know, I have seen rooms in the museum with walls of different colors! And it looks well. I don't know how it would work out in a living room.
