Dear Keith:
For days and days I have been wanting to answer your last letter and somehow I failed to do so. But today I am beginning the day with a letter to you — and no more postponements and no further regret and deep inner apology.
Well, first of all, I was delighted with the cheerful tone of your letter, and with the fact that you enjoyed the holiday season — your first in the land of sunlight and warmth — with your friends and relatives. I wish I could have dropped in for an hour, but believe me if I didn't physically, I did do so in spirit and in thought. I could hear your cheerful voice and enthusiastic outburst over a beautiful form, color or passage in one or all of your great pictures (please exclude mine from that catagory). You may well joy over the beautiful things
