Then the matter of art of the future. I am sure you remember what we talked about so often when we sipped leisurely the refreshing and spiri-lifting "liqueur". I mean the Impasse. Well, it isn't so easy. It is a nice subject for discussion these days, and it is good that it is being discussed, but oh how difficult the doing. Nevertheless we do know and we did arrive at a point where a change is unavoidable. Will representation return? Is that new? Are we quite correct in our ever seeking for something new? But one must live the thing he does. Look at the Archaics What a lesson! What a moral we can draw. What inference! 

Anyhow, I'm on the battle-field of earnest endeavor. I hope it will come to something. One is torn between the past and the future. Perhaps that's why the present is always so transitory - exciting - .....
