You are quite right about Kootz's bragging. It is false! No one is selling anything. Things are at a stand-still, and Paul who knew this was on the way as far back as 1945 - is quite positive that this depression in art will last over a period of two or three years. He told me that the many art galleries in Paris have shut down - out of business. and it is beginning to be so right here in N.Y. Occasionally a museum with a little left over funds - acquires something, and when that happens it is like a miracle. But one must be philosophical and grateful to be able to go on working. The good years must average up with the lean years.
