got over it. Now, in the eyes of the younger men, I am conscious that I am considered old-fashioned, even though I know that most of their work is of no fashion at all. There is consolation in the fact that I have had a perfectly bully time doing the things I have done and I even confess that some of them look to be pretty good to me.

But I am not writing you to talk about myself! I want to tell you how delighted I am to know that you are painting, - and painting such splendid canvases as the "Monadnoc". Your letter lets me infer that you are in working trim again. You must be happy in that and in the fact that your wonderful discoveries have borne such fruit. I suppose it is beyond the range of the possible that you could come to visit us at Glendale this summer. I do so wish you could, - with Mrs. Thayer. We shall be there after the 25th.

Always affectionately
Dan. French.
