Florence, April 18th. 1831

My Dear Sir, 

Improve a moment to drop you one line to my friend W. J. Brent Clark, who sails from Leghorn for Phil.a in a few days._ When I left Rome I had put in train for transportation, numerous donations to our Academy, casts etc and I wrote you also at the same time. I hope some of them will have  arrived in the Hope, Calliope, or perhaps by the Panama, by which this letter will go. You will receive notice through the agents._ I made one mistake in a name which I wish to rectify, it was the given name of M. Coit, it was written Joshua Coit, it should have been Daniel Coit. of course you will in case of his election as Honorary Member correct the mistake, and also in placing his name on his donation. _ I ought also to have proposed as candidate for Honorary Member in the days of Amateurs, W. G. Williams, U.S. Army, a gentleman of [[crossed out]] great talent and a fine liberal man, his present of the "imperfections from gems", which you will receive, will be very valuable to us. 

I hope to make further effort, but as Europe is in such a state of agitation, I may be embarrassed._

I am in the same lodgings with our Professor of
