To the Treasurer of the National Academy of Design.
It having been represented to me that a young artist of character and merit from Pittsburgh Pa. is in the city and without funds for his return, the circumstances of the case seem to warrant the granting the request made by his friends that the Academy should loan him the sum of Twenty five dollars to be by him refunded when he arrives at Pittsburgh.
You will therefore please pay him Twenty five dollars, taking from him the necessary note and receipt. - Mr. H. Peters Gray by whom the request is made to me in his behalf will give you his name.
