UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
STATE OF ARKANSAS, COUNTY OF CHICOT.
Personally appeared before me, John MacLean, clerk of the circuit court for the County and State aforesaid, Thomas S. Sharps of Chicot County, and State of Arkansas and voluntarily took and subscribed the following oath:
I, Thomas Sharps do solemnly swear, in the presence of Almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Union of States thereunder, and that I will, in like manner, abide by and faithfully support all laws and proclamations which have been made during the existing rebellion with reference to the emancipation of Slaves. So help me God.

I hereby Certify, that the above oath of Thomas S. Sharps was this day taken and subscribes before me in manner and form as therein certified, and the original record thereof by me transmitted to the Department of State at Washington, as required by the provisions of the Instructions of the Secretary of State of the 20th day of May, A.D. 1865.
