General:
My attention has been called to the necessity of obtaining a greater supply of water for the public Buildings now occupied for this Bureau and those in the vicinity thereof. The supply now is insufficient for ordinary purposes- and is wholly inadequate in case of fire.

Upon the grounds adjacent to these Buildings is an excellent Spring from which an abundant supply of water for all purposes can be obtained - by the use of a water mill the total cost of which will not exceed $2766 [[underlined]] 90 [[/underlined]] This statement is based upon estimates of
