Another reason weighed with me was that should we discover matters reprehensible, there was no hope of having same passed upon as justice would - for any party approaching the White house with money, or Political influence could enshield the biggest scoundrel in Uncle Sam-dom. Now however a gentleman presides over the dispensement of justice in the Executive mansion - one who will pardon none at all before trial, and very few if any after trial.
