I had hoped to have had this disgusting and humbling treachery of public duty, enquired unto, considered and concluded upon, without publicity; and thereby saving the feelings of loyal men, and preventing immense hilarity to the enemies of the nation: but your honor's declaration, that "no further action is considered necessary in this case" affects that that cherished wish and hope.
