Next day August 3rd we accordingly received a letter from Major Runkle A.A.I.G. as to witnesses; and we at once proceeded to arrange the list the required: But in doing this we were grieved to learn that Dr. B. R. S. Boemond late A.A. Surgn in the said hospital, had left this city and state, on the night previous, or that very morning.—

To this gentleman, Dr. Boemond, we had traced some of the first whispers as to the management of the hospital, and from him we have received corroboration of all these whispers. Consequently we meant to have made Dr. Boemond the principal witness as to all these painful allegations.

After mature consideration as to this unlooked for and untoward deprivation of the attendance of a main witness, Major Rumkle was informed that the names of the only witnesses we meant to adduce, were Capt [[Meiser?]] and Dr. Boemond, and that we would rest the enquiry on their testimony, — reserving [[for the?]] witnesses, if needed,[[recount?]] any contrary matter.
